    Title: CNC Operator - Machinist

    Normal Work Location: KSPT Medical

    Normal Working Hours: 1st Shift (7am - 3:30pm) / Monday - Friday / Full Time

    Position Summary

    The position is responsible for accurate and effective operations of CNC machines, manual machines, or other related equipment. The position requires the ability to produce manufactured product at an entry set up experience level. The position supports a lean and a safe manufacturing environment while focusing on continuous improvement, quality and support of teamwork throughout KSPT Medical Division.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Operate manual or CNC machines (Lathes & Mills) with efficient cycle times by loading and unloading material.
    • Assess machine operations; movement of parts, gauges, dials, machine sounds to determine potential equipment failures.
    • Interpret drawings, and/or item attributes and follow routings.
    • Maintain product specifications by utilizing the appropriate inspection equipment as required.
    • Maintain and adjust machine feeds and speeds and perform routine maintenance and lubrication as required.
    • Able to use machine-specific software programs as required.
    • Troubleshoot and correct set up problems, and have full knowledge of all tooling required.
    • Complete all job-related paperwork and shop floor data collection accurately.
    • Adhere to all aspects of the Quality Management System.
    • Adhere to safe operating procedures as required by specific standards related to equipment.

    • Evaluate and maintain measuring and testing equipment.
    • Have excellent team working and communication skills.
    • Maintain a clean work area including machine operation cleanliness.
    • Assist other departments to troubleshoot equipment and/or process issues for continuous improvement.
    • Train and assist associates on set up and operating functions as needed.
    • Maintain tooling and manufacturing supplies as needed.
    • Meet all training and educational requirements as specified by department.

    Educational Requirements
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
    Other Qualifications Desired

    Training & Experience
    • One or more years of CNC machining experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge of decimal and metric system, basic mathematical application.
    • Working knowledge of micrometer, precision scale, indicator, and other required test/inspection equipment.

    Visual Acuity: Ability to read machine dials, computer screens, mechanical/tool drawings and precision measuring devices with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify changes in order to take appropriate preventive action with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Working Conditions: Well lit, climate controlled manufacturing environment with moderate loud noise levels. Position subject to occasional light to medium lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and bending. Constant use of upper extremities with frequent gripping motions and wrist deviations. Occasional reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to retrieve and store raw materials and finished product. Position requires continuous standing and walking. Position frequently handles sharp cutting tools. Skin exposure to oils and cutting/grinding fluids with minimal exposure to fumes, dusts, mists.

    • Associate is required to follow other job-related duties, subject to all local, state, and federal laws and applicable regulations.
    • The associate must successfully perform all requirements of the position training plan.
    When overtime is scheduled, it is mandatory.
