Job Title: Plant Operator

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of By-Products

Summary/Objective:

Aid in the By-Products plant in all areas and all positions as a team member to ensure end products are processed according to quality specifications and customer needs.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in all areas of the plant, including production areas, while meeting production deadlines and ensuring quality standards are met.
• Work as a team and effectively provide feedback and take instructions as needed.
• Ensure quality, food safety, and personal safety are observed.
• Track and rotate product, perform sanitation tasks, and participate in discussions about confidential/sensitive matters.
• Communicate with employees and others through written, oral, and face-to-face interactions.
• Assist and supervise other team members in completing work, follow HACCP compliance guidelines, and communicate with fellow employees to complete tasks and adhere to safety standards.
• Be flexible with work schedules, work varying hours, and maintain knowledge of GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Monitor equipment operations, alert maintenance or management when equipment or product quality falls below standards, and maintain appropriate housekeeping and sanitation procedures.
• Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to internal and external customers, continually pursue sustainability, and advocate positive change within the plant and company.

Requirements:

• Competencies: ability to communicate verbally and in writing, record keeping and organizational skills, attention to detail, safety, and continual improvement.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise and may be exposed to cold and wet conditions as well as hot weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently requires walking or moving to accomplish tasks.
• Frequently requires standing for sustained periods of time.
• Occasionally requires stooping and reaching.
• Occasionally requires pushing using upper extremities to press against something with steady force.
• Occasionally requires pulling using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Lifting is required on a frequent basis of 50 lbs.

Travel:

Travel locally to Fish Farms and Processing Plant is required.

Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time position work 5 days a week, weekdays and some weekends as required, with work hours varying from 4:30 AM - 4:30 PM and 4:30 PM to 4:30 AM. Overtime is expected and required as needed.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
