Job summary
The Saw Operator is responsible for setting up,operating and maintaining manual and auto saws used to cut materials to specified lengths.
This includes visual inspections proper blade maintenance and adherence
to quality and safety standards. Requirements Duties & Responsibilities Daily setup
& safe operation of manual and auto saws adjust Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) parameters when required perform visual inspections of blades & saw plates inspect for damage or wear install
& maintain blades while following the Lock Out Tag Out program adjust stop pieces for correct length validate with measuring devices execute controlled precise cutting operations observing safety precautions with spring-loaded saw handles monitor coolant levels ensure proper disposal prevent slips or falls complete setup approval per work instructions before production runs monitor production quality check part length inspect for burrs abrasions maintain clean equipment workplace report safety issues immediately team leader supervisor manager record all production data downtime on appropriate forms computer programs handle non-conforming parts outlined in work instructions adhere environmental policies including chemical handling waste disposal procedures follow detailed instructions from shop routers JIBs work instructions monitor achieve established Key Performance Indicators KPIs such as production output quality standards efficiency safety compliance ensuring continuous improvement alignment company goals keep work area clean organized prevent safety hazards perform additional duties assigned commitment uphold Polygons Core Values Safety Deliver Quality Initiative Collaboration Innovation Education Training High school diploma equivalent HSE Knowledge Experience years experience operating manual auto saws manufacturing environment preferred familiarity ISO 9001 other quality management systems proficiency reading interpreting technical drawings blueprints strong knowledge precision measuring instruments inspection techniques Skills Abilities good mechanical aptitude attention detail frequently reach hands arms continuously ability lift move pounds stand extended periods time Working Conditions physical demands representative associate successfully perform essential functions reasonable accommodations made individuals disabilities performing essential functions While performing duties this job associate regularly required sit stand stoop climb walk use hands talk hear minimum eight hours shift Hours Shifts This third shift position The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions While performing the duties of this job associate is regularly required to sit stand stoop climb walk use hands talk hear for a minimum of eight hours per shift This is third shift position Hours shifts may vary depending needs department Sunday through Friday pm EST Monday Friday am EST Monday Friday pm EST
