Start Date: June 1st 2024
Seeking camp counselors who can lead daily arts & science activities outdoors.
JOB FUNCTION:
̈ Guide 10-15 campers and help each individual adjust and grow
̈ Help campers to have fun while learning
̈ Know the names, background and special interests of each camper in the group
̈ Interpret and enforce safety and health regulations
̈ Instruct campers in emergency procedures
̈ Guide the individual and group in participating in all camp and unit activities
̈ Assist and attend program activities and other activities of the unit and camp
̈ Provide maximum opportunity to assure that Camp Massasoit's goals and objectives are accomplished with each camper
̈ Help track down necessary health forms
̈ Assist in swim program as assigned
̈ Participate in orientation, staff meetings and camp closing as required
̈ Pass in a schedule and plan for unit activities each Monday
̈ None
̈ Supervise all assistants to the group (Jr. Counselors, 's, volunteers)
̈ Maintain a safe and clean environment
̈ Inspect equipment weekly and report in writing any/all repairs or replacements that may be needed and return it to the proper location
̈ Provide friendly, courteous service to all campers, staff and volunteers of the YMCA
̈ Contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in job, enthusiasm and cooperation with co-workers
̈ Demonstrate the character values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibilities at all times.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old by July 1st 2024
Must provide 5 years of volunteer and/or work history
Good interpersonal communication skills
Evidence of physical examination every two years
Negative Mantoux TB test
Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella
Certification of good health from a physician
Must be able to walk around camp as well as stand a majority of the camp day.
Must be able to sit, bend, stoop, etc.
