Open ________________________________________ Position Overview Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Cyber Security Project Engineer to support the design, implementation, authorization, and secure operation of mission-critical systems in a classified environment located in McLean, VA.

This role supports Sponsor-facing technical teams responsible for delivering secure, compliant, and operationally effective systems across their full lifecycle.

The Cyber Security Project Engineer will work closely with system engineers, security teams, and Sponsor stakeholders to ensure systems meet all cybersecurity, compliance, and authorization requirements, including achieving and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO).

________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Design and implement secure communication solutions and network architectures Support the implementation of infrastructure in public cloud environments Support the Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 Assessment & Accreditation (A&A) process Coordinate across multiple organizations to obtain and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) Address and implement system security controls in accordance with Sponsor requirements Triage and troubleshoot system and security-related issues Produce and maintain technical system documentation Design and implement cloud-hosted infrastructure supporting mobile and commercial applications Support information security practices related to system design and operations Securely transfer, handle, and protect sensitive data Develop system design diagrams and architecture documentation Develop and brief system designs to both technical and non-technical audiences to obtain operational and security approvals Participate in technical exchange meetings with Sponsor stakeholders Support continuous monitoring and ongoing compliance activities ________________________________________ Mandatory Skills & Experience Demonstrated experience designing and implementing secure communication solutions and networks Experience implementing infrastructure in public cloud domains Experience supporting ICD 503 A&A processes and system authorization activities Experience coordinating cybersecurity approvals across multiple organizations to achieve and maintain ATO Experience implementing system security controls Experience troubleshooting and resolving system and security issues Experience producing technical system documentation Experience designing cloud-hosted infrastructure for mobile and commercial applications Strong background in information security principles Experience handling and securing sensitive data Experience developing system design diagrams Experience briefing system designs to technical and non-technical audiences ________________________________________ Desired Certifications CompTIA Network CompTIA Security ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) ________________________________________ Education Requirement Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline Equivalent professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis ________________________________________ Preferred Skills Experience with Sponsor systems, architecture, and data Experience coordinating across Sponsor organizations and business partners to expedite technology approvals Experience supporting Sponsor-specific A&A processes and cybersecurity requirements Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Experience developing system design diagrams using Sponsor-provided tools ________________________________________ Additional Relevant Experience Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing network architectures using current technologies, including authorization and accreditation Experience supporting full lifecycle A&A activities and compliance requirements Experience working with Sponsors and users to gather and define system requirements Experience providing operational testing and continuous improvement recommendations Experience analyzing new technologies, hardware, and software for system applicability Experience ensuring compliance with security requirements related to data protection, access control, and incident response Experience implementing security controls including firewalls, multi-factor authentication, and encryption Experience conducting internal risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies Experience preparing and maintaining security documentation including SSPs, SARs, and POA&Ms Experience implementing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) Experience developing and maintaining incident response plans Experience conducting vulnerability scanning and system hardening Experience supporting continuous monitoring requirements ________________________________________ Why QSS?
