    Join the mission-driven team in the Health Regulation Division (HRD) of MDH dedicated to serving the most vulnerable Minnesotans by monitoring compliance with the laws and rules designed to protect them.

    The State Triage unit organizes and prioritizes complaints and incidents reports regarding maltreatment, compliance, and violations in state and federal licensed health care facilities, health occupations programs and other licensees regulated by the Health Regulation Division.

    The Triage Specialist evaluates the information received to make a recommendation for additional investigation.

    This position is eligible for telework for applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, or North Dakota.

    Position location will be determined by the top candidate and be based out of one of the following MDH district office locations:
    St. Paul, Rochester, Mankato, Marshall, St. Cloud, Duluth, Fergus Falls, or Bemidji.


    Minimum Qualifications
    Two (2) years of experience working with health care regulations or statutes for licensed or regulated healthcare providers.

    Applicants who meet the above qualifications will be further assessed during an interview on the following:

    • Experience navigating multiple databases.
    • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems including administrative processes.
    • Verbal and written communications skills to effectively explain triage decision-making processes to members of the public, who may be distraught or demanding.
    • Ability to use plain language and document concise, accurate and complete information for use by agency partners, internal staff and the public.
    • Human relations skills sufficient to develop and maintain effective working relationships with external partners and within MDH.

    Substitute a bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Social Work or a related health field for one (1) year of experience.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge and experience working with Assisted Living and/or Home Care statutes and regulations.
    • Knowledge of the relationship between the various levels of state licensure and federal certification programs.
    • Knowledge of administrative, civil and criminal law affecting licensing and investigative functions.
    • Experience working in health care or social services.
