    Location: This position is based in Reston, VA

    Travel: None

    Remote Schedule: Will work as part of an overall team to provide needed coverage and support with remote work capability one day each week according to mission schedules.


    Security Clearance:
    Must be a United States Citizen and hold a current TS-SCI or TS with SCI eligibility security clearance.

    Employees are required to follow all company and customer site COVID-19 protocols.

    Responsibilities:

    As a site reliability engineer on our team, youll work with the DoD on the development of more robust systems for by building a resilient infrastructure. Youll build in redundancy, implement monitoring tools, and automate wherever possible. Youll reduce toil by scripting routine tasks and automating self-repair. You'll work on development of tools and processes to drive DevSecOps maturity by automating infrastructure provisioning, software builds, regression testing, monitoring, and pushing releases across environments.

    This is your chance to leverage your expertise in building enterprise cloud-native solutions involving Kubernetes, Rancher, AWS, and Azure. You will apply advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise, full industry knowledge to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. As a DevOps Site Reliability Engineer, you will use your development experience to write infrastructure as code and deploy using industry best practices like GitOps and CI/CD in a hybrid cloud environment. You will lead efforts to incorporate open source tools, automation, and cloud resources to cut down on tedious, boring tasks and free up the teams developers to do what they do best innovate.     The job is 4 days on site and 1 telework day. The telework day can only be Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

    You will be required to be on-call for a week, once approximately every 8 weeks. You will not have to come in onsite, but you will be responsible to facilitate any issues that arise.

    The team does maintenance every Monday and Wednesday which is from 3pm to 10pm. They are usually done by 6pm but have to be willing to work to 10pm if needed. The team rotates who works maintenance on those days. If maintenance lands on your telework day you will be required to come on site, however you are able to choose a different telework day which could be any day of the week to include Monday and Friday.

    The team lead is primary looking for a mid to senior Linux Engineer or a mid to senior Kubernetes Engineer.

    Salary is dependent on education level + years of relevant experience and will be determined by the DOD customer.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Must hold a current TS-SCI or TS level with SCI eligibility security clearance with DOD
    • Active DoD 8570, Level II Security Certification, including Security+, CEH, etc.
    • Experience working in Linux environments, while supporting production enterprise applications
    • Experience with large distributed, highly available environments and container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
    • Experience with declarative Infrastructure as Code tools, including Puppet, Terraform, and Ansible
    • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tools, including ArgoCD, Gitlab CI, or Jenkins
    • Experience with Python, Microservices, Serverless, MLOps, AIOps, and Bash shell scripting
    • Ability to dive deep into all aspects of the stack to identify and fix problems and troubleshoot

    Desired:

    • Experience with Big Data stack using Hadoop, Spark, Accumulo or MongoDB, and Solr or Elasticsearch
    • Experience with software development processes and code management tools and processes
    • Experience with monitoring tools, including Prometheus and Grafana
    • Knowledge of full stack infrastructure, rollout management of stack, differences between managing Kubernetes and Cloudera stack
    • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams, in an organized manner
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate affectively, and raise risks to senior leadership and balance team skillsets
