    Duties and Responsibilities

    Background:

    The UN System Workplace Mental Health and Well-being Strategy for 2024 and beyond was approved and launched in late 2023.

    The strategy identifies 12 key indicators based on the 'Mental Health at Work Policy Brief' published by WHO and ILO in 2022.

    This strategy builds on the work undertaken during implementation of the inaugural mental health and well-being strategy The 2024 and beyond strategy outlines 12 indicators and areas for action for UN Organizations.

    In order to assist UN Organizations to make progress in implementing the indicators, a number of guidance resources and tools need to be developed.

    The system-wide implementation of the strategy is governed by an inter-agency Implementation Board. The Board has identified communication and engagement as a key priority.

    A Communication and Engagement Manager is required to work with the Strategies Implementation Board and Global Lead to develop and implement a communication and engagement action plan.

    The duties and responsibilities of the Communication and Engagement Manager are to:
    Under the guidance of the Global Lead, UN System Workplace Mental Health and Well-being Strategy, the Consultant will:

    • Review and update website content and facilitating translation into official UN languages, ensuring specificity, measurability, and timeliness.
    • Review learning material and other products developed for the strategy to ensure they meet relevant criteria.
    • Coordinate with graphic design, video, media, and other relevant departments to ensure consistency, alignment, of messages and design across different communication mediums,
    • Coordinate events related to the strategy with clear objectives, ensuring they are achievable and relevant.
    • Plan and lead activities for World Mental Health Day and other key moments,
    • Prepare relevant articles to promote actions taken to implement the strategy,
    • Provide constructive feedback for communications prepared by other team members,
    • Recommend and establish avenues for internal communication and knowledge sharing
    Qualifications/special skills
    Master's degree in Public Health, Communication, Business Administration, Human Resources, Mental Health or related area is required.

    A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

    A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.

    Experience in communications, mental health, public health or workplace health is desirable.

    Languages
    For this consultancy, fluency in English is required.
