    Description

    As a Chemist at the TyraTech division of American Vanguard (AMVAC), you will assist the R&D team in research and development work at their Morrisville, NC laboratory. TyraTech is developing a range of advanced insect control products that are safe, effective, inspired by nature and harmonized with scientific expertise. In this role, you will report directly to VP of R&D working with other chemists in the R&D lab.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Support insecticide, herbicide, repellency, and other non-agricultural development projects

    · Prepare and improve formulations used in efficacy screening

    · Use analytical balances to weigh and measure samples

    · Collect and summarize data and deliver results as oral or written reports as required

    · Work both independently and within a small team with a minimal supervision

    · Develop and improve testing methodologies and assays

    · Assist in the maintenance, method development, and rearing of select insect species

    · Perform other duties as assigned by HR and Plant personnel when needed

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    · 1+ year of laboratory experience

    · Laboratory skills : accurately weigh, measure, & following mixing instructions

    · Understanding of different statistical methods to analyze data

    · High affinity for biological and chemical sciences

    · Ability and motivation to learn new techniques

    · Willingness and ability to work with a wide variety of insects and plants

    · Self-motivated to take projects through to successful products

    · Familiarity with the metric system and dilutions is required

    · Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required

    · Excellent organizational and record keeping skills; High attention to detail

    · Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills

    · Must be able to pass pre-employment background check, physical and drug test

    EDUCATION

    · Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) Required - in Chemistry or a related field with laboratory experience
