Open Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking an Accounting Analyst to provide complex cost accounting and grant support services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepares budget information for grant applications, performs budget modifications, and tracks expenditures against the appropriate grant
Enters invoice and voucher information into the Wyoming Online Financial System (WOLFS)
Communicates with vendors and fiscal program staff to resolve budgetary, invoice, and voucher issues in a timely manner
Prepares and submits complex expense allocations for the department (ex., Motor Pool, Telecom, Central Mail, and ITD)
Prepares and analyzes data on monthly financial reports
Prepares ad hoc fiscal reports from data stored in WOLFS
Extracts and compiles information from the Wyoming Online Financial System (WOLFS) and other sources to assist administrators and program managers in compliance with state and federal programs
Assists with developing, evaluating, revising, and implementing accounting policies and procedures to meet required rules and policies based on compliance reports
Monitors and tracks contracts
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of budget and grant processes, including accounting and financial reporting
Knowledge and understanding of the grant process, including activity codes, beginning and ending dates of grants, and allowable costs under various grants
Knowledge of accounting terminology and methods
Knowledge of procedures for fiscal control and proper documentation
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as they are applied to government accounting systems
Skill in using financial management and payroll software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Ability to problem-solve and apply logical judgment in analyzing financial data and costs
Ability to perform under tight deadlines
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to find resolutions to complicated accounting problems and assist other accounting staff in resolving finance-related issues
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to take on new tasks with varying levels of difficulty
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
