    Responsible for developing and monitoring memory care programming, resident care and activity needs and maximizing the overall experience at the Memory Care communities.

    This position is accountable for the fulfillment of resident needs in accordance with government regulations, Gardant policies and procedures, maintains excellent services, high occupancy and maintains regulatory compliance.

    The Memory Care Director is responsible for creating and sustaining a milieu which encourages independence, capitalizes on resident's abilities and helps residents feel safe and purposeful.


    • Develop and maintain a culture, across all memory care communities, where resident care is concerned primarily with the maintenance and enhancement of personhood, based on a clear and accurate understanding of each resident's abilities, tastes, interests, values, forms of spirituality. Promotes the understanding there are as many manifestations of dementia as there are persons with dementia.
    • Responsible for the developing and implementing consistent programming in all memory care communities, assist with branding of unique program features which maximizes the well-being of residents with dementia, and recognizes the "Indicators of Relative Well Being in Dementia" (Thomas Kitwood and Kathleen Breedin)
    • Oversee staff development and provide ongoing training specific to caring for persons with dementia, topics include but are not limited to, Understanding Dementia, Identifying and Preventing Abuse, Listening and Speaking, Actions and Reactions, Making a Difference. Monitor and ensure compliance with all educational requirements according to applicable state and federal regulations, and Gardant policies and procedures.
    • Accountable for the training on the development of individualized service plans for all residents based upon the resident assessment(s). The individualized service plan should be designed to meet the personal care needs of the resident and to monitor significant health conditions, while also promoting resident independence and dignity. Monitor and ensure all resident assessments are completed prior to each resident's move-in date and an individualized service plan is completed upon move-in.

    Education and Experience Required:


    The Memory Care Director must be currently licensed as a LPN, in all applicable states, and be in good standing with each licensing agency.

    Experience working with residents with Alzheimer's disease and/or related dementia, Certified Dementia Practitioner, or equivalent training.
