    The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and improves processes and fabrication methods to obtain cost effective production while maintaining quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer also supports manufacturing planning in BoM / Routing / Work Instruction maintenance, as well as implementing engineering changes for continuous improvement of Wipaire products.

    Job Duties:

    1. Evaluates current manufacturing processes and flow of materials / products through the shop by applying knowledge of manufacturing principles and process improvement theories to recommend / implement changes leading to improved efficiency and reduced cost while maintaining quality.
    2. Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; research, designs, and implements manufacturing methods and equipment/techniques that meet or exceed production cost targets and maintain quality.
    3. Recommends, specifies, and validates new equipment and tools.
    4. Prepares cost, utilization, efficiency, and other performance metric reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing shop floor data.
    5. Evaluate capital equipment through research, justification and purchasing.
    6. Creates manufacturing process instructions, conducts FMEA's, develops and conducts process validations.
    7. Participates in the resolution of issues such as: conflicting design requirements, tooling and process requirements, rework methods, as well as corrective action processing to minimize future issues.
    8. Creates engineering change requests for continuous improvement and processes engineering change orders including shop floor disposition. Helps prioritize change requests to effectively utilize resources for best return on investment.
    9. Maintains compliance of all activities within the quality control system.
    10. Interpret various industry and government specifications and recommend courses of action in order to meet those specifications.
    11. Helps create and supports employee training and safety programs.
    Experience and Skills
    • Bachelors' Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering strongly preferred or a combination of other degree and experience.
    • Regulated industry and related compliance requirements background preferred.
    • 3+ years of related work experience is highly preferred.
    • Expertise in the following areas is preferred: Lean manufacturing (5S, continuous improvement, cell design, plant layout, mistake-proofing), metal forming, component design and fabrication, mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, machine and tool design.
    • Familiar with AutoCAD and Inventor
    • Knowledge of materials (mainly aluminum) and associated physical properties, processing characteristics, heat treating, coating and plating specifications.
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage work in a fast-paced environment. Work without supervision and solve high level and detailed problems effectively.
    • Work as an effective and proactive team player; exhibit flexibility and switch priorities in work duties while maintaining a positive attitude; understands the importance of supporting the organization, customers, and other employees.
    • Able to meet FAA regulatory and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.
    • Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
    • Apply manual dexterity for hand tools and power equipment use; good hand/eye coordination.
    • Move around the plant area repeatedly throughout the day.
    • Stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Use close vision to see small parts and review detailed information, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
