Maintenance Worker - Chadron - Global Force

Description

Maintenance Worker requires skills and knowledge at maintaining residential facilities including plumbing, electrical, HVAC etc. as well as knowledge and ability to run equipment i.e. backhoes, skid steers, forklifts, and trailer towing. Must have basic computer skills for checking assigned tasks. Working knowledge of combustion, heat transfer principles, and fuel characters. Knowledge and skills in the use of basic carpentry trade practices and techniques.

Ability and accurate skill in the use of tapes, rulers and squares, and various shop tools and common power tools.

Maintenance Worker uses own judgment for planning and performing a variety of tasks.

Selects tools, decides on methods and techniques to use, and carries out the work with little check during its progress.

Determines where to begin, how to complete the job, and operates equipment according to the conditions present.

Reviews manufacturer and technical manuals to operate and maintain equipment and apply basic knowledge for repairing or ordering repairs for equipment problems.

Maintenance Worker is responsible for executing maintenance related duties, including providing assistance and coordinating with the Programs Officer. Work from oral and written instructions and work orders.
Grounds maintenance may include the application of chemicals, and repair of irrigation systems. Operates vehicles up to a 1-ton capacity in performance of duties. Performance other duties as assigned. May assist in winter snow removal and operation of snowplow and salter machine.
These guidelines may not be completely applicable or may not cover every situation encountered. Maintenance Worker uses judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines based on facility needs and/or situation.

Assignments involve the uses of knowledge, skills and judgment in performing complex functions that differs with the needs of the task.

The work involves identifying and analyzing conditions. The Maintenance Worker must determine what needs to be done during the shift and set priorities and deadlines. This requires understanding the needs of the center and determining which task will least affect the centers operations. Ensures accurate documentation of tasks completed and tasks assigned through appropriate electronic communication.
Work requires considerable standing, bending, walking, lifting, stooping, stretching, and carrying of items or equipment more than 45 lbs. Work is performed throughout dormitories and other Centers facilities.
Work performed requires normal safety precautions as outline by OSHA.
