As an Engineer I - Facilities supporting Manufacturing Technical Operations (MTO) Facilities, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating projects to meet site requirements at Sinking Spring, PA. This individual will be expected to work with Engineering, Production, Quality, IT, and Finance as needed. Duties will require broad mechanical and electrical knowledge. Good technical writing skills are critical, as this role will involve writing validation protocols, SOPs, investigation reports, and technical drawings. The Facility Engineer will support Facility Mechanics in solving equipment problems.

    In this role, a typical day will include:

    • Ensure that all utilities employed in manufacturing remain in compliance and all work performed conforms with all applicable requirements such as ISO9000, ISO14385, and ISO14001, and that personnel follow all applicable GMPs, SOPs, and GDPs
    • Provide engineering input for the process water systems, compressed air, HVAC, controlled environments, building enhancements, and other utilities
    • Coordinate and complete validation and change control activities for the Facilities Department
    • Update/create Facilities Department drawings, SOPs, forms, training plans, and preventive maintenance schedules as needed
    • Perform root cause investigations for any out-of-specification conditions related to critical-to-quality utilities
    • Provide technical support to control and monitor the process and utility systems, as well as recommend and implement solutions and improvements to such systems including capital and non-capital projects
    • Implement and track assigned projects from technical, scheduling, and financial perspectives through implementation
    • Work with technicians to solve problems on quality-critical facilities systems. This includes thoroughly documenting equipment repairs and changes and resolving how to minimize future occurrence
    • Interface and interact on a routine basis with peers, management, outside suppliers, and governing agencies to assist as needed on facility issues
    • Maintain the facility safely and functionally.
    • May supervise a small group of individuals

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

    • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
    • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English Work hours: Exempt M-F
