Description
Performance Engineers are responsible for design, implements and improves load automation framework solution for the developed products.Must be able to work in an agile team environment with other quality engineers, software engineers, quality analysts, technical writers, and product owners.
Proficiency in load/performance engineering principles and standards is a key requisite for success in this position.What a day in the life looks like:
Develop and define comprehensive performance testing strategies for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks, tools, and methodologies
Analyze the business scenarios and understand the non-functional requirements to lay the foundation for robust performance testing frameworks
Build a performance testing roadmap for the Koerber products by analyzing the current state of the projects
Proficient in breaking down the phases and building the performance architecture roadmap. Collaborate with development, architecture, and infrastructure teams to optimize application performance
Build modular automated performance test scripts to identify load and scalability concerns for web-based applications and mobile applications utilizing SOA design and APIs in a continuous integration environment to provide remediation plans
Collaborate closely with the technical team lead and director to deliver non-functional test solutions aligned with defined objectives, schedules, standards, and cost targets, reflecting the technical test strategy
Take ownership of the non-functional test solution throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring responsibility for each milestone within the release cycles
Provide professional project planning, estimation, non-functional test approaches, technical test solution quality, issue/risk management, and results/analysis considering the department standards
Employ load, stress, and analysis tools to model performance scenarios. Conduct initial analysis using performance monitoring tools, identifying potential system and resource bottlenecks
Analyze performance results and produce relevant reports and quality metrics with suggestions for improvements
Stay abreast of emerging trends in performance testing, researching and recommending system configuration and tuning improvements based on thorough observations
Leverage some experience in load/performance testing microservices for SaaS products. This includes performance testing UI, APIs, and microservices with other service dependencies
Work with the development, QA, DevOps, and Services teams as required to analyze the load execution results
Mentor and guide fellow team members leveraging technical test resources to enhance overall team proficiency
Demonstrate a working knowledge of cloud environments and deployments
Develop dashboards and reports to offer ongoing visibility
Provide actionable information and suggestions for the scalability and security of the application
Develop and execute load automated test scripts using tools like K6, JMeter, Load Runner, or similar, ensuring comprehensive performance testing
Work closely with DevOps and services teams to define test data for performance test execution
Executes and maintains the continuous integration pipeline
Suggests new tools and techniques to enhance the testing teams productivity
Must participate in demos and code reviews to learn how the feature functions to write load test cases and give feedback on the design
Proactively seek assistance as needed to complete work in a reasonable amount of time
Proactively seek to provide ideas on how to automate the product(s)
Mentor more junior performance engineers in the process, tools, Products, etc
Works independently while following established guidelines and delivering quality work on time at defined checkpoints
Manages multiple projects simultaneously and delivers on-time results
Actively participate in the Agile process such as daily huddles, estimating, code reviews, and retrospectives
Continuous education to stay up to date on new automation practices
Skills required:
Experience with Load/Performance Tools used in the project
Proficiency in performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, or similar
Experience with performance monitoring tools
Experience with cloud-based performance testing and monitoring tools
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
Understanding of different technologies and methodologies including SDLCs, Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, Source Control, etc.
Good understanding of any Performance tools, Performance Stats, C#, Visual Studio, VS Code, SQL, SQL tuning, Tracing tools, Azure DevOps, VSTest Console, Junit, and PowerShell
