    The position is instrumental in driving our advocacy and engagement strategy with critical government partners. This position is responsible for building, growing, and deepening BGCSF's relationships with elected officials, policymakers, governmental departments, and advocacy partner groups.

    This role requires 4 days a week onsite in our Administrative office.

    KEY ROLES:

    Government Relations - 50%

    • Build, grow, or strengthen strategic relationships with government officials
    • Manage communication methods to city officials, including regular reports to Supervisors
    • Working with leadership staff, maintain positive relationships with Program Officers and support Club and program leadership in building relationships with these individuals
    • Support Club and program leadership in developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders including hosting tours, letter writing, etc.
    • Leverage relationships to find and position BGCSF for new government funding opportunities: city, state and federal
    • Active engagement and/or staying up to date on DCYF's Oversight and Advisory Committee meetings
    • Train and provide ongoing support with monthly reports to DCYF
    • Build strategies to engage City officials, outlining goals, scheduling visits, prepping staff etc.
    • Attend relevant city department hearings
    • Stay updated on relevant policies and initiatives that affect youth - keep agency leaders informed
    • Support BGCSF's work with the California Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs on state issues; support BGCA's national efforts as they align with BGCSF's interests
    Advocacy Work - 20%
    • Lead advocacy efforts on behalf of the organization through engagement in critical coalitions (e.g. Servicer Provider Working Group (SPWG), Budget Justice Working Group (BJC)
    • Expand BGCSF's service provider network by building relationships with other CBOs and participating in grassroots organizing efforts
    • Support youth voice activities related to government officials or agencies (i.e. TAG, Day of Advocacy in SF, Days of Advocacy in Sacramento, All Children Thrive, etc.)
    Government Contract Management - 20%
    • Manage relationship associated with City contracts
    • Main point of contact for government contracts
    • Manage funding opportunities that come from special initiatives, such as Summer Together and city add-backs
    • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and coordinate with relevant departments and individuals to ensure objectives are met
    • Partner with finance to develop and manage contract budgets
    • Partner with Outcomes Team to ensure tracking is accurate, systems match, and to regularly review MCH dashboard with DCYF progress to goals
    • In partnership with Grants Manager, engage with Clubs and Program Services to ensure goals, expectations, and progress are aligned, understood and prioritized
    • Lead communication with organizational leadership regarding how well we are meeting our contractual obligations and how strong our relationships are with key government funders.
    Provide Support for Grant Writing - 10%
    • Work in partnership with the IG staff team and Club Services/Program Services leadership, support IG's grant writing efforts to government entities (this will largely mean developing content/case statements, advising, and supporting grant submissions).
    Requirements

    SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE:
    • Working knowledge of Google Suite; specifically Google Sheets
    • Excellent writing skills
    • BA degree or higher in related field
    • 2 years fundraising experience
    • Advocacy, city government or grass-roots organizing experience
    • Youth development experience
    • San Francisco knowledge
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long period of time
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
    • Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for events or moving from one Club to another.
    PAY

    The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and are dependent on the circumstances of each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level, or top-of-the-range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000.00-$105,000.00 annually.
