    Job Summary

    The Senior Resident Assistant (SRA) is a para-professional, live-in position, supporting the Department of Campus & Residential Life.

    The SRA's primary role is that of community builder, person of contact for our residential students, and as a peer mentor and leader of the Residential Life staff team.

    This means that the SRA must be visible and accessible within the community.

    The SRA will be responsible for developing human potential by implementing programs that hone the social, interpersonal, behavioral, citizenship, and leadership skills for all residential students at the University.

    The SRA also upholds the Naropa community Code of Conduct in regard to Campus & Residential Life and Naropa University policies, particularly as relates to alcohol, drugs, noise, and safety issues.

    The SRA also serves as a member of our Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) team, assisting the Department of Campus & Residential Life in providing excellent customer service and hospitality to our summer conference attendees and guests.

    Performance is assessed in the areas of four (4)

    Key Accountabilities: 1) general duties, 2) on-call duties, 3) administrative duties, and 4) summer conferences.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    General Duties


    • Hosting monthly community meetings with the RA and CA staff
    • Having regular monthly one on ones with Resident Assistants and Community Assistants to provide peer support, coaching, and feedback
    • Holding office hours five hours a week in Wulsin Hall's Learning Commons
    • Attending our biweekly all staff meetings
    • Facilitation of roommate agreements and mediation of roommate conflicts
    • Regularly scheduled community meetings
    • Upkeep of Snow Lion's laundry room and community room as well as 2333 Arapahoe's communal kitchen, living room, laundry room, and decks and patios.
    • Assisting the Office of Campus & Residential Life with Health and Safety Inspections, and Evacuation Drills.
    On-Call Duties


    • Serving on the Resident Assistant On-Call rotation on a regular basis between 5:00pm and 9:00am Monday - Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and academic breaks, holidays, and campus closures,
    • An additional two (2) weeks of on-call
    • Performing rounds in both Snow Lion Apartments and 2333 Arapahoe Residence Hall every night one is on-call
    • Addressing policy violations, facilities concerns, resident questions and concerns, and emergencies while on-call
    • May be asked to serve as a member of the Resident Director on-call rotation.
    Administrative Duties


    • Assisting with the scheduling, planning, and advertising of community events
    • Submitting On-Call Nightly Reports when on call
    • Submission and follow up of Facilities Work Requests
    Summer Conference Duties


    • Assist the Office of Campus & Residential Life with summer conferences, including but not limited to:
    • Laundering/cleaning and replacing linens, towels, and dishes
    • Light cleaning of units between guest stays
    • Assisting with conference check-in and check-out
    • Assisting with on-call emergency concerns
    What Naropa Requires...


    • Student must be awarded work study hours by the Naropa Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.
    • This position must be filled by a current Naropa Student who has completed at least one year as a full-time student at Naropa by the start date of employment in this position.
    • Must either be currently living or able to relocate to either residence hall.
    • Must be able to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
    • The SRA must possess strong leadership characteristics, these may include but are not limited to: responsibility, positive attitude, enthusiasm, adaptability, commitment, integrity, team-building skills, clear communication abilities, sound judgment, initiative, the ability to appropriately delegate responsibility, time-management skills, and the ability to establish and maintain clear boundaries.
    • The SRA position requires the ability to relate well to individuals of all identities, regardless of their ethnic, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, gender expression/identity, and religious backgrounds, encouraging better understanding of cultural diversity and individual differences in the residence hall.
    • The position requires the interest and willingness to learn to develop and guide a cohesive and inclusive community while supporting the academic mission of the University through purposeful programming and demonstration of personal integrity.
    • Must have and maintain a 2.5 Semester and Cumulative GPA.

    • Current or previous residence hall experience as a resident or RA
    • Current or previous campus leadership

    Naropa's health and welfare benefits include the following: medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, employer-paid short-term and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, an employer-sponsored pre-tax retirement savings plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching, and a variety of voluntary, employee-paid supplemental insurance plans.

    A comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week.

    Employees who work hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.


    Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa's retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.

    All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
