Overview

CHI Lakewood Health is actively recruiting an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our well established hospital in Baudette, Minnesota.

We are privileged to serve residents from four counties, neighboring residents of Canada, as well as tourists that come from all over the world due to seasonal tourism and recreational activities.

We are proud to offer a full range of services including 24/7/365 emergency room and hospitalist program, testing, surgery, an outpatient primary care clinic, a care center, rehabilitation, and more.

This position supports our busy, ER-Hospitalist program


Essential Areas of Responsibility

• Provide care to patients of all ages children to geriatrics
• Emergency Room consults, triage and medical care
• Round, admit and manage health needs of patients with a significant range of complex and comorbid disease conditions
• Manages all inpatient care and provides prompt attention to all patients admitted to the hospital, including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within your scope of practice)
• Collaborate and coordinate patient care with physicians, nursing, health care personnel, and care team members for patients in the hospital and ER
• Employing quality and process improvement practices to make the hospital a safer place and improve patient outcomes
• Ten (10) shifts per month is fulltime. Each 24hour shift is unrestricted call and APPs can expect to provide 1012 hours onsite patient care.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care:
• Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
• Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.
• Communication:
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Provide clear and concise medical information.
• Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare.
• Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
• Diagnostic Procedures:
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging.
• Perform procedures as needed
• Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation.
• Team Collaboration:
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
• Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers.
• Quality Improvement:
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
• Review and analyze clinical outcomes for continuous improvement.
• Implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.
• Compliance:
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice.
• Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
• Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to standards.
• Continuous Learning:
• Stay abreast of medical advancements and best practices.
• Participate in ongoing medical education and training.
• Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position:
- will have graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Masters or Doctorate program

- will have Emergency Room or Inpatient experience of 1 year or more, required

- board certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Hospital Medicine

• ACLS, PALS, and ATLS or CALS certified

- will have the qualification to successfully obtain an unrestricted Minnesota practice license and DEA

- interested in a shift-based condensed work schedule [Ten 24-hr shifts is full-time]

- have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

- demonstrate the ability to work independently

- demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing patient demographics and needs
