This is an entry-level position for a Radiological Technologist with no acute care facility employment experience.The Radiological Technologist I provides general radiology examinations to patients under the supervision of a more experienced technologist and the Chief of Radiology.
The Radiological Technologist I is distinguished from the Radiological Technologist II, in that the latter has a minimum of two-years acute care hospital employment experience.
The Radiological Technologist I typically is certified in one modality, such as Radiography only.Formal Training in an accredited Radiological program
Clinical Student internship experience as part of accredited training program is required (see education). Typically, the student intern must accrue 2400 hours before State of California certification.
Technical ability to perform all diagnostic radiography examinations as outlined in the MGH Diagnostic Imaging Services department policy and procedure manual
Ability to interact with general public, clients, staff and referring physicians with diplomacy, tact and goodwill
Ability to participate in department team quality improvement activities
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/
CERTIFICATION:
Competently performs all diagnostic imaging examinations as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual
Accurately correlates patient clinical history with the Radiology exam to be performed
Competently uses universal precautions when working with patients in isolation status and in sterile surgery
Competently assists with department clerical functions
Keeps current with changes in policy and procedure
May require work shift rotation in order to participate in training
Ability to accurately troubleshoot radiology equipment in order to knowledgeably communicate need for repair to service personnel
Knowledgeable about equipment down time procedures for Radiology Information System, Computer Radiology System (CR) and PACS
Develops and maintains effective work relationships with management, staff; Accurately uses hospital information system to process patient information
Accurately uses Radiology Information system, CR and PACS in order to process patient information
Keeps current with changes, revisions, and continuing education in Radiology Information System
Constantly promotes a positive and professional image in the hospital
Performs special projects at the request of Radiological Technologist IV or Director
