What we are looking for?Synthomer is seeking a passionate and results-oriented Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security Manager for our Chester, SC location. This individual will lead, develop, and own the execution of site SHE&S programs. To be successful in the role you must be able to effectively educate, influence, and hold others accountable. Your primary responsibilities:
Ensures the development, maintenance and improvement of programs and/or processes to drive site performance improvement and assure conformance with Synthomer's SHE Management System.
Facilitates development of SHE&S annual operating and strategic plans; and works with department managers to ensure accountability to plan delivery.
Tracks and analyzes SHE&S Metrics such as unsafe act/condition reporting, corrective actions, MOC status, behavior safety audits, incidents and injuries.
Develops programs and strategies to address gaps and themes identified.Perform audits and inspections of plant operations and programs to ensure compliance with Synthomer processes and standards applicable to the plant (Safety/PSM, Environmental, Responsible Care, ISO 9001, etc.).
Oversees effective execution and improvement of the SHE&S Training Program that includes in person training, daily meetings, computer-based training, 3rd party training as well as development of course materials.
Interact with the site workforce at all levels to increase employee involvement, demonstrate, educate, coach and enforce SHE&S work practices and provide SHE&S technical and regulatory expertise.
Oversees execution and ensures effectiveness of security, emergency response, industrial hygiene and reporting activities for the sites.Supports Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure compliance and improvement. Lead specified elements and provide technical support to ensure process safety considerations are well managed in the facility.
Oversees the sites' environmental program execution to meet requirements associated with large quantity waste generator, air permit, NPDES storm water permit, wastewater permit, underground storage tanks, TRI and Tier II reporting.
Participates in regional program development, projects, support and auditing activities as requiredWhat we need from you:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering or similar. Education needs to be technical in nature and relate to Safety, Health and Environmental experiences.
Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing
Must be a strong leader and advocate for SHE&S, have experience in culture development and implementing a SHE&S management system
Must have experience implementing and maintaining regulatory programs such as OSHA, EPA and Process Safety Management
Root Cause Analysis Facilitator experienced in various structured problem solving techniques
Able to develop and execute project plans and direct the site to achieve the required milestones
Experience with air, waste, and wastewater
Experience developing and managing emergency action plans
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, government agencies and other outside entities
Have the ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate effective listening skills, and influence without authority
Qualifications that can set you apart:
Experience at a Process Safety Management (PSM) site.
Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
Operational line supervisory/management experience
Multi-site experience
Experience in a polymer manufacturing facility
