- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage many disorders in children who have metabolic or growth disorders.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage children who have type one diabetes, growth disorders, hypoglycemia, and other disorders relating to the adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands.
- Thoroughly evaluates and manages each patient appropriately and documents information completely and on a timely basis.
- Identifies relevant medical issues accurately and uses appropriate procedures and testing
- Completes and maintains problem list, medication list, disease management forms, preventative maintenance flow sheets and other medical record forms
- Documenting assessment findings, treatment recommendations and plan for continuing care in the clinical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, other agency providers, clinical support staff, administrative staff and community resources in meeting patient and family needs.
- Provide health promotion, education and counseling for patient/families related to medication, diagnosis, health issues and coping strategies.
- Management of inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patients.
- Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
- Participate in the identification and implementation of opportunities to enhance patient and family satisfaction.
- Participate in efforts to ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and other applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
- May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Academic appointments may be available with the University of Connecticut.
- Graduate from accredited school of medicine required
- MD or DO Degree
- 2 or more years of experience preferred
- Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of CT and must be maintained thereafter
- DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter
- Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics with specialty certification in pediatric Endocrinology

Description
SUMMARY
The Pediatric Endocrinologist is primarily responsible to provide clinical care for children and young adult patients with endocrine disorders, including both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, growth and pubertal disorders, and disorders of sexual development among others.
The Pediatric Endocrinologist will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide the high quality care to include providing evaluation and treatment plan specific to the needs of each patient.
