    Job Description

    The Residential Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic services and treatment planning for youth receiving residential treatment at KidsTLC. The therapist practices under intensive clinical supervision as needed and consistent with licensure status. The therapist provides individual, family, and group therapies, participates in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team for treatment, and supports families and stakeholders in discharge planning. Most of this position's time is spent in therapeutic services, crisis management, client staffing, and collaborating withthe treatment team. Additional time is spent on documentation, researching, gathering, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.

    This is an EOE position.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive individualized master treatment plan with an internal and external collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
    • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions with adolescents in PRTF treatment.
    • Staff cases weekly during clinical multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.
    • Attendance in clinical supervision weekly.
    • Attendance in unit transition meetings with staff and community. meetings/groups with clients.

    · Maintain accurate and timely documentation of intake assessment, master treatment plans, treatment plan updates, progress notes, discharge summaries, phone calls, etc. for that meets regulations of governing bodies.

    • Be on callfor clinical/program emergencies (i.e., run-away, suicidal ideation/attempt, aggressive/dangerous behavior) on a rotating basis with other members of the clinical team.
    • Have a thorough understanding of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy as a foundational understanding in the treatment of attachment and trauma. Participate in DDP trainings, and study groups.
    • Have a thorough knowledge of the KidsTLC Constitution that guides trauma-informed care and consistently model it as a professional and team leader.
    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    · This position has no direct reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    · Strongly prefer licensed or temporarily licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT or LCMFT); psychologist or clinical psychotherapist (LMLP, LCP, or LP); professional counselor (LPC or LCPC); or social worker (LMSW or LSCSW). If the clinical candidate is engaging in practicum work or has applied for clinical licensure post-graduation, they will be under the intensive supervision of a licensed clinical level practitioner.

    · Experience with adolescent juvenile offenders, children with severe emotional disturbances, and foster children, along with the knowledge of PRTF treatment is preferred.

    · Excellent writing and computer skills are preferred.

    LANGUAGE ABILITY

    Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, record keeping, and written communication skills. The employee must have the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of written and verbal communication with both internal and external customers. The employee must have the ability to convey and receive detailed information or important instructions to and from various sources.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Must have the ability to assess and identify program measurements and outcomes.

    COGNITIVE DEMANDS

    The employee must have the ability to respond to crisis and conflict with confidence and professionalism. Extensive problem solving exists in this position. Problem areas include but are not limited to: strategic analysis and research; program performance; personnel performance; strategic planning issues; COA issues; funding issues; treatment planning issues; reporting progress issues; program implementation and training issues; Medicaid re-imbursements; community issues; interagency issues; multi-agency issues; community resources; placement issues, family issues and juvenile issues.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of or be able to train in industry specific software and industry specific systems. The employee should have a knowledge of other web-based software programs, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

    While performing the duties of direct care positions, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and always have sight and sound on clients. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
