- Be proficient in the application of active transportation planning techniques at a variety of scales.
- Responsible for preparation and completion of planning tasks that are responsive to project needs including the production of planning documents, surveys, reports and the facilitation of public meetings and steering committee meetings.
- Collect, analyze and present data and community-based input.
- Use GIS to analyze demographics, trends, survey inputs and spatial data.
- Conduct field observations and data collection activities.
- Development of project strategy that identifies milestones, appropriate planning techniques to be applied, stakeholders, schedule and overall project objectives.
- Collaborate with engineers to analyze technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
- Execute planning work independently with limited direction.
- Complete work accurately and in accordance with good planning codes and practice.
- Contribute to the overall goals and effectiveness of the team.
- Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks.

- Master / Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field.
- 3-5 years active transportation experience in the public or private sector.
- Experience in multimodal network analysis and development.
- Proficiency in ArGIS and geospatial analysis.
- Proficiency in demographic analysis of US Census data.
- Proficiency in graphic production in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), including graphic design, data visualization, and report layout.
- Strong writing skills and experience working as a support and/or lead writer for planning documents.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication, including analytic and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Active Transportation Planner
McAdams is adding to our growing active transportation planning practice and is searching for the right planner to join our team.
