    Job Description:
    Facilitates the nutrition care process in order to provide the patient with optimal medical nutrition therapy.

    Posting Details


    • Shift: Mostly day shifts occurring M-F. Position would include 1 weekend on call per month and 1 holiday per year on call.
    • PRN (as needed)
    Scope


    • Plans and coordinates age appropriate care including general nutrition (visits, monitoring, medical records, and office records), Food/Drug interaction, and recommendations for referrals to other disciplines.
    • Provides aggressive nutrition intervention appropriate for age and/or developmental stage and provides follow-up for continuity of care with ongoing evaluations and documentation including assessments, reassessments, and recommendations including NPO.
    • Counsels and instructs patients and/or caregivers providing written instruction materials.
    • Evaluates and documents patient and/or caregiver understanding of diet based on behavioral objectives.
    • Develops and revises education materials and teaching outlines including individual and group handouts, ensuring materials are understandable and accurate.
    • Initiates, adjusts, and monitors enteral and parenteral nutrition per hospital policies.
    • Promotes nutrition and the Food Services Department through public relations and marketing.
    • Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
    • May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
    Minimum Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree with dietetic internship or equivalent is required
    • Current Registration with the CDR or registration eligible with the ability to obtain within three months of hire
    • Current nutrition license with the state or licensure ready with the ability to obtain within three months of hire
    • Current BLS or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire is required
    Preferred


    • Master's degree in Nutrition or relevant field of study.

    • Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
    • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
    • See and read computer monitors and documents.
    • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
    • May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
