- Manage OLAC staff, including hiring, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Develop goals and program objectives for animal care.
- Ensure effective operations through program development and process improvement.
- Coordinate animal use assignments and provide consultation to veterinary clinicians.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in animal care programs.
- American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine specialty certification.

College of Veterinary Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Director and University Attending Veterinarian within the Office of Laboratory Animal Care (OLAC). This position is responsible for overseeing all animals used in research and teaching at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. The Director and University Attending Veterinarian uphold high standards of animal care, welfare, regulatory compliance, and education within various campus areas, including the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and AgResearch facilities.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, knowledge of federal regulations, and at least five years of leadership experience in veterinary medicine. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and licensure to practice in the US are required.
Preferred qualifications:
This position is based in the Animal Resource Lab at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and requires occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work.
