Overview

We are seeking a Wastewater Operator-in-Training for assignment in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The selected candidate will follow and learn form experienced operators in how to operate and maintain a wastewater treatment facility.

Hours are Wednesday - Friday, 7:00pm - 7:00am

** This is a Night Shift position **

** Candidates must either hold, or be willing to take the Rhode Island Grade 1 Certification exam **

Responsibilities

Learn and gain skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing and operating tasks

Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge and effluent

Monitor gauges, meters and control panels

Observe and report abnormalities to Certified Operator

Operate valves and gates either manually or by remote control

Start and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes

Maintain shift log and record meter and gauge readings

Take and record readings produced from the operation of equipment

Take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator

This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies

Travel between work locations is required

Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

A valid Drivers License

Familiarity with hand and power tools

Willingness to study and take the Rhode Island Wastewater Certification exam
