- Develop syllabus and course curriculum for the assigned course.

- Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Visualization, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in data visualization techniques, tools, and methodologies.
- Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level, or relevant professional experience in data visualization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- One (1) year teaching experience.
- Experience serving students from historically excluded communities.
- Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Visualization, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience using industry-standard data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, R or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with data analysis and statistical methods.
- Experience designing and developing data visualization projects or applications.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning environments.
- Three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in higher education.
- Experience working in a minority serving institution.

DSCI 1000 [Data Visualization] -
T/TH 3:20-5:00 p.m. - In-Person
In this course, we will discuss how we perceive information visually, how to identify and avoid pitfalls in data visualization, how we interpret data visualizations to tell a story, and how to create effective visualizations. Through community-engaged work, students will begin to learn to craft summaries and visualizations of data and to use these tools to construct narratives about the data. Community-engaged work is project-based.
