Job description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

"Due to the potentially classified nature of our work, your willingness is required to subject yourself to a governmental security clearance process."

Drive the Future of Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure

Are you a pragmatic problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments? Passionate about automation, cloud platforms, and enterprise-scale SAP workloads? Join our Unified Cloud & Infrastructure Services team—a strategic engineering group delivering secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions across hyperscaler platforms.

This is your opportunity to shape the future of sovereign cloud services, working with cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with top-tier talent.

Your Role & Impact

As a Senior DevOps Engineer in our Unified Cloud & Infrastructure Services team, you'll design, provision, and maintain cloud environments across AWS, GCP, Azure, and OpenStack. You'll ensure these platforms are optimized for hosting mission-critical SAP applications such as BTP, HCM, S/4HANA PCE, IBP, and HANA—while driving automation-first principles across infrastructure, CI/CD, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and manage cloud account structures across IaaS providers, with deep expertise in at least one (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OpenStack)
  • Design and operate infrastructure within SAP's private cloud
  • Build portable, cloud-agnostic automation that scales globally and securely
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Crossplane, Helm, Kustomize, and Ansible
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and Concourse
  • Design resilient, self-healing Kubernetes clusters using Cluster API and GitOps reconciliation
  • Automate deployment of databases and middleware (PostgreSQL, Redis, Vault, Kafka) using Helm and Operators
  • Enforce GitOps-first workflows with policy-driven, versioned environments and continuous reconciliation
  • Manage centralized secrets and rotation using HashiCorp Vault and External Secrets Operator
  • Integrate image signing, attestation, and scanning tools (Cosign, Trivy, Grype)
  • Monitor and enhance performance, availability, and security of cloud and SAP environments
  • Document and standardize operational processes across platforms
  • Debug across layers—infra, APIs, containers, and workloads
  • Mentor peers and foster a culture of ownership, iteration, and continuous improvement

What You Bring

Technical Expertise

  • 5+ years in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles
  • Deep knowledge of at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, or GCP); familiarity with others including OpenStack
  • Strong CI/CD pipeline experience and GitOps workflows
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Crossplane, Helm, Kustomize, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Programming/scripting in Python, Go, Bash
  • Experience with Kubernetes lifecycle automation and custom controllers
  • Solid Linux administration, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch, Datadog)

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Pragmatic problem-solver who delivers working automation fast and iterates for quality
  • Balances "done" with "perfect"; focuses on high impact over endless refactoring
  • Rapid learner who adapts quickly to new tools, architectures, and constraints
  • Collaborates effectively across platform, development, and security teams
  • Communicates clearly and drives decisions with technical clarity and empathy
  • Mentors peers on automation best practices and operational excellence

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Be part of a high-impact team shaping sovereign cloud infrastructure
  • Work on large-scale, multi-cloud architectures supporting enterprise SAP workloads
  • Lead automation and CI/CD innovation across IaaS providers and private cloud platforms
  • Collaborate with industry-leading experts in cloud and SAP technologies
  • Enjoy a flexible, dynamic, and inclusive work environment
  • Advance your career through high-visibility projects and continuous learning
