- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Assist the Head Coach in carrying out his/her duties.
- Know, understand, implement and adhere to the rules and regulations of Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA.) Attend mandatory rules clinic and coaches' meetings.
- Supervise and conduct practices and contests in safe manner.
- Assist in managing uniforms, equipment, and facilities in a responsible manner.
- Work toward building and teaching good sportsmanship, cooperative work ethic and responsibility.
- Communicate with the Director of Activities/Athletics, Head Coach, administrators, assistant coach(es), players and parents.
- Direct injured athletes to the trainer and report injuries to the nurse.
- Teach relevant skills, tactics and techniques.
- Monitor and enhance performance by providing encouragement and constructive feedback.
- Assess strengths and weaknesses in a participant's performance and identify areas for further development.
- Adapt to the needs and interests of the group or individual participant.
- Communicate instructions and commands using clear, simple language.
- Demonstrate an activity by breaking the task down into a sequence.
- Encourage participants to gain and develop skills, knowledge, and techniques.
- Ensure participants train and perform to a high standard of health and safety at all times.
- Inspire confidence.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of fitness, injury, sports psychology, nutrition, and sports science.
- Assist in developing training programs.
- Assist in sports promotion/development.
- Work to a high legal and ethical standard at all times, particularly in relation to issues such as child safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain records of participant's performance.
- Coordinate participant's attendance at meetings and other sports events.
- Coordinate appropriate competitions for participants with Activities Director.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.
- Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
- Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
- Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
- Ability to collaborate with peers, positive attitude and flexible with change.
