    WECU is seeking a Relationship Officer to join our Holly branch in Bellingham, WA. This position is responsible for processing a wide variety of member transactions including opening and maintaining all account types and loan offerings. Through effective communication with prospective and current members, this individual sells credit union products and services to achieve organization goals and better the lives of our membership.

    Service Expectations

    • Effectively interviews members to identify needs; proactively explains and refers available financial products and services in order to strengthen the member relationship.
    • Performs such other member service functions as needed and assists others to complete tasks and work assignments
    Service Activities

    Along with Service Consultants, supports the branch by processing a wide variety of transactions including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments and wire transfers, based on branch need.
    • Processes Safe Deposit Box rental, access, maintenance, and closure.
    • Provides Notary Public services.
    • Provides account origination and maintenance services including:
    • Opens, processes alterations, updates, and/or closures of all WECU account types including personal, specialty, youth and small business accounts.
    • Resolves account discrepancies and answers complex members questions.
    • Maintains a broad knowledge of all types of account ownership and account classifications to assist members in making the most effective use of credit union services.
    • Examines, evaluates, and authorizes or makes recommendation on approval of borrower applications for consumer loans.
    • Interviews applicants to obtain necessary information, analyzes financial status and credit history to determine feasibility of granting loans.
    • Utilizing lending authority, and in accordance with sound underwriting practices, approves or submits applications to underwriters for verification and recommendation.
    • Resolves loan discrepancies and answers complex members questions.
    • Identifies additional or potential lending opportunities in each interaction to further assist the borrower as well as increase the credit union's loan portfolio.
    • Ensures the protection of the credit union's interests in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to policy, laws, regulations, and the exercise of sound credit decisions.
    • Refers WECU financial products and services to ensure member satisfaction.
    • Assists in sales and service efforts for Retail, Home Loan Center, and Business Banking.
    Other duties may be assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
    • Minimum 1 year experience as a WECU Service Specialist or related experience in a similar role at a financial institution or 3 years customer facing or sales experience in a retail environment may be accepted instead.
    • Relevant training and/or lending experience in a credit union, bank, or other financial institution preferred.

    COMPENSATION:

    The salary range for this position is from $23.79 to $33.59 per hour.
