Job Summary and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

Support surgical team members by maintaining a safe and clean operating room environment.
Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other equipment as needed.
Monitor patients' vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and report any abnormalities to the surgical team.
Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgeries, including setting up and cleaning instruments, and disposing of biohazardous materials.
Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure smooth procedure execution.
Participate in debriefing sessions after procedures to discuss successes and areas for improvement.

Requirements

Education:

Surgical Technologist: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
LPN in Surgical Technologist role: Graduate of an accredited LPN program.

License/Certification:

Surgical Technologist: Current BCLS certification. For individuals hired after August 1, 2007, certification is to be obtained within one year of date of hire.
LPN in Surgical Technologist role: current BCLS certification and current NC license. For individuals hired after August 1, 2007, certification is to be obtained within one year of date of hire.

Experience:

Surgical Technologist: Clinical experience in training program.
LPN in Surgical Technologist role: One-year experience in a Surgical Technologist role in an applicable acute care operating room setting or clinical experience in Surgical Technologist training program.
