People often think they have to know everything about plants to work here. The truth is, it's a good thing that you like gardening, but what are you really good at? What skills can you bring to this team, whether it's an eye for design, a knack for fixing machinery, or maybe you just really love lifting heavy things (safely). Being good at listening is also really big in our line of work.

Sales Associate - Trees & Shrubs

Our Nursery Dept. staff enjoy hands-on work with a wide variety of larger landscape plants and help customers in the outdoor nursery yard, rain or shine. This is a great role for landscape enthusiasts who are thorough and knowledgeable (and willing to learn even more). Individuals who enjoy seeing projects through independently and coordinating with a team are a great fit for this role. Full-time and part-time positions available.

Responsibilities:

Assist customers to locate desired plant material and hard goods for purchase; accurately tag and relocate selected materials for later pickup or delivery.
Assist customers with plant/hardscaping questions or locate appropriate staff to answer technical questions.
Water, groom, price, and stock trees and shrubs.
Help unload incoming plant material and hard goods as needed.
Help maintain Sky's physical cleanliness and order.
Work with other departments as needed.
Provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

Able to communicate clearly, work well with customers and co-workers in a positive, professional manner.
Familiarity with basic hand tools.
Ability to lift or move 60 pounds with or without accommodation.
Previous retail experience is highly desirable—we provide excellent customer service.
Able to stand, bend, and do repetitive tasks.
Able to follow instructions; willing to learn, seek and use feedback.
Responsible and reliable. Accurate.

Hourly Wage Range: $19-25

Benefits Summary: Sky Nursery offers medical (including vision) and dental insurance for those working 30 hours or more after a 2-month period, and vacation pay and 401(k) matching retirement plan after 1 year of employment. As a retail business, weekend availability is essential. Full-time (35+ hrs) and part-time work is available.

Our busiest months are March - June. Many roles start as seasonal; a great step toward year-round employment.
