Description:
Seeking Sign Language Interpreters to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and those who do not understand sign language.
Interpreters will work in various settings, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, government agencies, and private organizations, ensuring effective communication and accessibility for all parties involved.
Qualifications:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in other sign language systems as required.
Certification from a recognized interpreting program or accreditation body (e.g., RID certification).
Knowledge of deaf culture, etiquette, and communication needs.
Strong linguistic and interpretive skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas accurately and impartially.
Experience working as a sign language interpreter in diverse settings is preferred.
Adherence to professional standards and ethical guidelines for interpreters.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and maintain confidentiality.
Flexibility and adaptability to different environments and communication styles.
Requirements:
