    Job Summary


    Histology Technician is responsible for receiving and preparing tissue specimens, performs routine and frozen section processing and special staining, assists or performs gross dissection, performs QC procedures and routine maintenance, and uses computer systems, all according to established policies and procedures.

    Job Requirements

    a


    Minimum Education Requirement:
    Completion of a Histology Technician Program or Associate's degree with training in a histology laboratory. Histology Technician ASCP certified prior to 2004 does not require an associate's degree.

    b


    Minimum Experience Requirement:
    Two years of experience preferred.

    c


    Minimum License Requirement:
    ASCP certification as a Histology Technician within 12 months of hire.

    Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

    Medium Work:
    Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.
