    Description
    Job Summary:

    Responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of all materials delivered to the Dietary and Materials Management Department by the various vendors. Responsible for adjustment of stock levels throughout the facility.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Receives materials delivered to the facility by various vendors.
    2. Properly disburses materials to various locations in the facility.
    3. Makes corrections, deletions, and adjustments to quantities of materials stocked.
    4. Fills requisitions from those departments not automatically replenished.
    5. Checks all documents for accuracy prior to the processing of packing slips, etc.
    6. Maintains all areas of materials storage in a neat and organized manner.
    7. Sets delivery assignments for various departments to ensure that the proper quantity of materials is delivered at the proper time.
    8. Maintains all equipment utilized in transporting materials in a manner that ensures reliable and safe operation.
    9. Performs any duties as assigned by the Dietary Management or Materials Management Coordinator.
    10. Demonstrates knowledge of the overall function of the Materials Handler job duties.
    11. Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties.
    12. Completes duties in a time efficient manner.
    13. Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
    14. Receives, reviews and fills all requisitions from various departments in the facility.
    15. Helps to complete tasks in the materials handler function that are not within job description. Renders self-available when responsibilities have been met to assist in areas that may require assistance within the materials handler function.
    16. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
    17.Assists with annual inventory counting.

    Professional Requirements:
    1. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
    2. Completes annual education requirements.

    3. Maintains regulatory requirements.

    4. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

    5. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.

    6. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.

    7. Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.

    8. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.

    9. Attends at least two staff meetings annually; reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.

    10. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

    11. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

    12. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

    13. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

    Regulatory Requirements:
    • High School graduate or equivalent.
    Language Skills:
    • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    Skills:
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    Physical Demands:
    • High amount of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling. Present up to date physical examination showing freedom from communicable diseases, and in good health and physical condition. Minimal lifting requirements of forty (40) to fifty (50) pounds.
