    Overview of Unit/Department


    Cox Health is a Level 1 Stroke and Trauma center and the 8th floor is the main nursing unit who cares for those specific patients in a variety of age groups.

    Our expertise covers a wide variety of neuro diseases, not only in Stroke and Trauma, but also seizures, neck and spinal fusions, traumatic brain injuries, craniotomies, and telemetry patients.

    We are a unit that is team oriented, fast paced, and a great learning environment for everyone who is eager to learn.

    Our staff of RN's and NA's work very closely to other disciplines throughout the hospital to make sure our patients receive excellent patient care and work together to achieve excellent outcomes.

    We have an excellent and active educator who is passionate about our patient population and the staff who care for them.

    Our nurses carry several special certifications in ACLS, Trauma certification, and NIHSS. As well as encouraged to obtain a specialty certification pertaining to our area.

    Job Summary


    Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients, identify a plan of care, and implement and evaluate the care given.

    Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy.

    Leads employees to accomplish all job objectives; inspires confidence and motivation to enhance employee satisfaction.


    Education:
    Required:

    Associate's Degree in Nursing. Must obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within three years.

    Experience:
    Preferred:
    At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specialization

    Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment Licensure/Certification/Registration Required:
