6E is a 38 bed medical-cardiac unit focused on the care of a variety of cardiac patients including post procedure care.
Patients may be post cath, pacemaker/ICD, stent, aneurysm repair, CABG/open heart surgery, post carotid endarterectomy, require telemetry, on titratable medications and vasoactive infusions.
7 beds are designated CCU and provide cardiac IMC care. All beds have on-site telemetry monitoring. The unit has a telemetry room monitored by tele techs. Most patients range from young to older adults with at times adolescent and geriatric patients. We are a fast paced unit with many surgical patients admitted one day and discharged the next.Nursing Skills developed on the unit include - Central lines, TPN, pacemaker care, drain care, chest tubes, temporary pacemakes, IVs, dressing changes, NGs, medication management and post-surgical care.
Electronic Health Record - Cerner System and use of bedside bar code administration
Defibrillators, telemetry, external pacemakers, infusion pumps, afterial lines, IV equipment, suction equipment, central lines, CPAP/bipap.
Every other weekend rotation is expected.
No on call requirements
Employee will always work with a team of nurses, patient care technicians, and a unit secretary
Will need to be flexible to float first, then based on hosptial needs would float to other cardiac unit or other units based on hosptial needs and individual competency.
38 all private rooms, 7 of the rooms are CCU-Cardiac Care Unit that are an IMC level of care.
