    Description

    Responsibilities

    • The selected candidate(s) may be required to perform any, all, or some of the following job duties, depending on business needs, which vary and are subject to change at any time: Fully qualified Journeyman. Perform expert installation, maintenance, fabrication, layout, and repair work on all piping systems, plumbing assemblies, and equipment falling within the jurisdiction of the Plumber-Steamfitter Journeyman classification of PNNL. Will set up and use tools and equipment, either hand or power tools.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum Qualifications:
      • Fully qualified journeyman with 4 years of experience at the journeyman level.
      • A High School education or equivalent.
      • Ability to qualify as a full journeyman with the appropriate union affiliated with HAMTC. (This must be reflected in the resume submitted.)
      • Must be able to safely and effectively set up and utilize all tools, materials, and equipment common to the trade.
      • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • The ideal person will be a fully qualified journeyman welder with the ability to utilize advanced welding techniques in support of research projects and facility maintenance.
      • Applicant must possess advanced skills in the following process using various base materials:
      • Shielded metal arc (SMAW), Gas metal arc (GMAW), Gas tungsten arc (GTAW), Orbital welding, Oxy acetylene
      • Ability to pass a welding test consisting of (at a minimum) carbon steel 2", schedule 160 in a 6G position with an additional test to follow.
      • EPA Universal or Class 3 with the ability to certify for Universal for work on refrigerant systems
      • Facility and Equipment Maintenance experience
      • Backflow Preventer Inspector Qualified
      • Fire Suppression Sprinkler Systems Qualified
      • Skilled in utilizing electronic work request systems/tracking for tablets or Smartphones.

    Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment

    • Position may be subjected to working around radiation, chemicals, asbestos, lasers, carcinogens, and other materials in a laboratory environment.
    • Job assignments may involve working near hazardous materials such as nuclear, fissionable, and dangerous waste.
    • Working near or with hazardous materials such as Asbestos, Beryllium, Magnetic Fields, or Radiation Zones.
    • Position could be required to work in outdoor environments on a year-round basis.
    • This position is subject to changing to a swing shift if the need arises.

    Additional Information

    • Due to business needs and client space, US Citizenship is required.
    • Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is subject to the Department of Energy Unclassified Foreign National Access Program site, information, technologies, and equipment access requirements.
