    Job Title: Public Safety Communications Specialist (Dispatcher)

    Company: Maricopa County Community College District


    Job Summary:

    This position as a Public Safety Communications Specialist plays a crucial role as the initial point of contact for public safety and law enforcement missions at the Maricopa County Community Colleges. Responsibilities include receiving emergency calls, assisting students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and relaying important information to various stakeholders. This role requires quick thinking and effective communication, especially in high-pressure situations.


    • Answers administrative and emergency calls, providing support to public safety personnel and first responders
    • Operates emergency communications systems and tracks public safety activities
    • Enters data into criminal justice information systems and maintains certifications
    • Assists in system support and training activities

    Minimum Qualifications:

    - High School Diploma or GED

    - 1 year of dispatch or related law enforcement/public safety experience


    Desired Qualifications:

    - Experience in handling confidential/sensitive matters and emergency situations

    - Associate's degree or higher in Administration of Justice or related field

    - Familiarity with law enforcement communications equipment and criminal justice databases


    Special Working Conditions:

    - Extensive background checks and certifications required

    - Variable work schedule, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays

    - Prolonged sitting and computer use
