    Position Requirements

    Education/Experience:

    Preferred 2 or more years in a medical billing office

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

    Medical billing certification

    Description

    Administrates the processing and collection of all insurance claims, and assist patients with inquiries regarding their health care insurance coverage by performing the following duties.

    Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    1. Prepares and submits clean claims by either paper or electronically in a timely manner to various insurance providers.*
    2. Tracks and follows up on delinquent insurance collections and denials.*
    3. Prepares and reviews patient statements for accuracy.*
    4. Maintains and works accounts receivable report for billing.*
    5. Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.*
    6. Performs various collections including contacting patients by phone, and correcting and resubmitting claims to third-party payers.*
    7. Responsible for posting payments and adjusting accounts per company billing guidelines.*
    8. Maintains strictest confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.*
    9. Adheres to Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.*
    10. Works with insurance providers to expedite the collection process and ensure any pre-authorization requirements are met.*
    11. Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendation to the Billing Supervisor, and prepares information for the collection agency.*
    12. Responsible for facility billing.*
    13. Responsible for processing refunds to insurance carriers. Notifies VP of refunds and creates adjustments on accounts.*
    14. Responsible for return mail. Working with facilities, patients and insurance websites to obtain correct information.*
    15. Responsible for verifying insurance coverage on claims prior to submitting to carriers.
    16. Assists intake Department on insurance questions relative to orders or insurance verification
    17. Performs other related duties as assigned.*
