- Contribute to the modeling, design, fabrication, and testing of components, subsystems, and integrated systems
- Evaluate, manufacture, and test energetic materials utilized in underwater power systems and/or chemical storage of hydrogen or oxygen
- Lead technical projects, collaborating with internal management, program sponsors, and stakeholders
- Generate innovative ideas and proposals for potential new initiatives
- Strong technical expertise in the design and analysis of chemical, mechanical, and/or electrical systems
- Proficiency in modeling and hands-on testing of materials, subsystems, and systems
- Ability to compose white papers/proposals and deliver presentations to diverse audiences and sponsors
- Demonstrated aptitude in successful project and team leadership
- Proficiency in modeling tools for chemical kinetics, phase equilibria, thermodynamics, or other analytical tools
- Familiarity with materials relevant to chemical generation and storage of hydrogen and oxygen
- Experience in securing funding from various agencies, such as Department of Defense, Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and SBIR/STTR grants

Description
The Energy Science and Power Systems (ESPS) Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is in search of a talented **Power and Energy Systems Chemical Engineer/Chemist** to contribute to fundamental and applied research supporting ARL's primary goal of reinforcing national security through the innovation of undersea power and energy systems. The chosen candidate will become part of a diverse team focused on analyzing, designing, developing, and showcasing cutting-edge power systems for underwater and unique applications (such as combustion/thermal, electrochemical, and hybrid systems). This opportunity is open for both Research and Development (R&D) Engineers and Research Faculty (non-tenure).

Responsibilities:
This position offers multiple advancement levels based on the candidate's skills, education, and background. The minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science/engineering field and at least 5 years of industry experience. A Master of Science (MS) or a Doctorate (PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
