    The Lamb Center (TLC) is a daytime drop-in shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness in Fairfax, VA.

    It provides various services without cost to its guests, including breakfast, lunch, showers, laundry service, Bible study, case management, AA meetings, a nurse practitioner clinic, a dental clinic, and much more.

    TLC partners with local groups and organizations that have a passion for serving homeless individuals. The operating budget for the fiscal year 2024 is $2.1M. Revenue sources include businesses, foundations, faith communities, individual donors, and local, state, and national government grants.

    About the Senior Communications Manager


    The Senior Communications Manager will communicate the impact and ongoing work of the ministry of the Lamb Center by managing digital and print platforms, including the website, social media, email marketing, and other dissemination tools.

    Additional responsibilities include publishing and promoting marketing and fundraising content.

    The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and editing skills, donor solicitation experience, a keen understanding of major social media platforms, and a passion for storytelling.

    Capital campaign experience is a major plus. This person must fully support the mission, vision, and values of the Lamb Center.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Under the supervision of the Director of Development:

    Develop compelling and emotive messaging to engage ministry stakeholders and help further organizational goals

    Define key performance indicators for each communications channel, demonstrating the campaign's impact

    Draft marketing and communications collateral, including press releases, website copy, print publications, annual reports, event marketing, campaign materials, giving societies, and more, to ensure consistency with the organization's mission and brand

    Produce weekly social media posts, monthly e-newsletters, and semiannual appeals

    Reach out to media and influencers to arrange story placement on a local and regional level

    Collect photos of Lamb Center events as needed for publications

    Manage website, updating list of needed supplies and holiday and operational announcements. Serve as liaison with website provider

    Manage the Lamb Center's Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts

    Track grant opportunities and assist with preparing and editing applications, including the bi-annual Consolidated Community Funding Pool and various church, foundation, and corporate grants

    Assist with annual fundraising events, overseeing the design of logo, invitation, program, sponsorship form, and other promotional materials

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications for Senior Communications Manager

    2-3 years nonprofit experience

    5-7 years prior experience working in a marketing or communications role

    Superior written and verbal communication skills

    Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines

    Ability to think analytically and strategically

    Capable of working well with a team as well as independently

    Proficiency with desktop publishing and graphics applications a plus

    Familiarity or experience working with WordPress and Canva

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    Ability to sit or stand for long periods

    Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds

    Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards

    Occasional exposure to loud, hectic environment and possible contact with individuals in crisis who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health, and safety practices
