    Overview


    The Fraud Prevention Team is responsible for detecting, preventing, and mitigating all fraud that is attempted at Vanguard, protecting our clients, platforms, and systems.

    As the Fraud Prevention Team builds out its digital framework, we are building a Strategy and Analytics team, which will be responsible for overseeing live models that detect and prevent fraud as well as performing data analytics relating to our fraud systems and controls.

    The Strategy and Analytics Team will support the continuous evolution of our strategies and policies to detect and mitigate fraud while simultaneously providing the best, seamless experience for our clients.


    The Senior Manager, Data Analytics will build and oversee a team of advanced data analysts responsible for a portfolio of strategic data projects that involve gathering data, verifying its accuracy and generating reports and dashboards.

    This leader will establish a foundational team of data analysts whose insights will lead to enterprise-wide data-driven decisions regarding fraud controls.

    This leader will also partner with other crew across the enterprise to ensure that the data necessary for the team's work is available for their consumption.

    In addition to business-as-usual functions, the team will also support fraud incidents when data analytics are required.

    In this role you will


    Build and oversee a team of advanced data analysts as they work with key stakeholders to understand fraud related business strategy, questions and goals.

    Provide sponsorship and subject-matter-expertise to ensure the successful completion of a portfolio of strategic data projects.

    Lead team of data analysts as they deliver presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.

    Provide guidance, training, and motivation as necessary to develop employees.

    Set performance standards, review performance, provide feedback, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

    Provide expert consulting to create recommendations that incorporate an understanding of both the business unit's operational goals and the analytics skills, tools, data and processes to achieve them.

    Present findings to senior leadership.
    Collect, analyze, and communicate fraud data related to daily fraud prevention operations. Uses findings to develop processes, procedures, and workflows to improve operational effectiveness.

    Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships in order to manage cross-departmental and cross-divisional data projects and coordinates the resolution of operational problems and issues.

    Assist in developing short and long-term initiatives for department to align with business strategies. Participate in business planning activities and develops budgets to determine feasibility and resource needs.

    Support team's continuous development to advance their technical skillsets, and to stay informed of industry innovations in analytics and tools.

    Define internal and/or external suite of products and custom and scalable analysis to meet stakeholders' needs for information and insights.

    Researches and applies industry best practices and market trends.
    Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

    What It Takes

    Minimum of eight years related work experience in fraud data analytics.
    Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

    Expertise in SQL, Python, and other data analytic skills to create complex functions and stored procedures; analyze queries, develop security protocols, and resolve problems; design dashboards and write complex queries for applications and business intelligence reporting.

    Strong analytical, interpretive and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large amounts of data and its impact in both operational and financial areas.

    Outstanding communications skills and ability to clearly communicate with both senior executives and staff.
    Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

    Thorough knowledge of PC computing environment, experience with database/data warehouses, and experience using reporting/query tools such as Brio, MS Query, MS Access, Excel, Crystal Reports or Business Objects and Falcon system/scoring.

    Must be able to work in a high-productive, deadline-oriented environment.
    Strong leadership experience, managing teams in a matrixed environment.
