    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    The Direct Support Staff holds the responsibility for all aspects of resident care and routine maintenance of the residence.

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

    The Direct Support Staff reports directly to the Manager and the Lead Direct Support Staff for all job responsibilities. Establishes and nurtures relationships with:

    • Residents, Manager, Lead Direct Support Staff, co-workers, Agency Nurses, Agency Behaviorist, residents' family and/or guardians, Healthcare Consultants, DDS employees and community members.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School diploma or GED is a must.
    2. Must obtain and maintain medication certification.
    3. Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication are essential.
    4. Demonstrates maturity, good judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information.
    5. Proficiency in First Aid, CPR, PMT, Abuse/Neglect, DDS Medication Administration, and other medical and habilitative needs of residents. Attends required in-services and staff meetings. Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
    6. Competent in basic computer skills, with a preference for experience in electronic health records.
    7. Holds a valid Connecticut Driver's License and eligible for Network, Inc.'s auto insurance.
    8. Physically capable of assisting participants when needed. Proficient in the THERAP electronic health record system.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Takes part in providing direct resident care according to individual plans and accurately documents activities. This includes:

    • Activities of daily living (ADL)
    • Individual plan goal activities
    • Socialization
    • Development and communication skills
    • Interpersonal relationship building
    • Self-preservation skills
    • Habilitation skills
    • Personal hygiene
    • Transportation
    • Acting as a positive role model
    • Leisure and recreation skills
    • Cooking skills development
    • Implementing behavioral plans

    2. Assists with routine residence maintenance within the context of home ownership.

    3. Responsible for the proper handling and safeguarding of residents' belongings and funds.

    4. Maintains accurate resident and residence electronic health records, including:

    • Regular resident status assessments
    • Daily resident task analysis charts
    • Other directed daily resident records
    • Ongoing communication in T-logs
    • Medication administration records
    • Resident attendance records
    • Residence maintenance records
    • Other directed records

    5. Participates in meal preparation as part of the family routine when required.

    6. Engages in staff in-service programs and meetings.

    7. Respects all residents' rights and relevant legislation.

    8. Adheres to community residence policies and procedures.

    9. Works cooperatively as a team member.

    10. Maintains resident and record confidentiality.

    11. May cover coworkers' absences and handle emergency staffing situations.

    12. Performs other necessary duties as assigned.

    Monday 6:00am-2:00pm
    Tuesday 6:00am-2:00pm
    Wednesday 6:00am-2:00pm
    Thursday 6:00am-11:00am
    Friday 6:00am-2:00pm
    Full-Time (37 hours/week)
