    Description

    Chief Financial Officer / Assistant City Manager

    The city seeks a strategic thinker with exceptional financial management and communication skills to serve as Chief Financial Officer/Assistant City Manager. This role oversees internal service departments including Administrative Services, Human Resources, Community Engagement and Information Technology.

    The selected candidate will have knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices, public finance, fiscal planning, payroll, and accounts payable. They will also possess a working knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) issued by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

    This position is responsible for working with bond advisors and ensuring that internal controls are in place and mandated reports are accurate and issued in accordance with GASB standards.

    Requirements:

    • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration from an accredited university is required.
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible finance work experience is required.
    • 4 years of supervisory experience of upper management staff is required.
    • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
    • A graduate degree in a relevant field such as an MBA, MPA, Organizational Development or Political Science is preferred.
    • Executive level experience, government finance experience and experience working with a governing body or board of directors are preferred.
