    Clinical Nursing Director, New Jersey ASC (Mahwah)

    Overview:

    The Director, ASC is responsible for the clinical and administration functions of the Ambulatory Surgery Center. In this role, you will direct and coordinate the activities of the center to assure optimal and appropriate care of patients, consistent with the philosophy of Hospital for Special Surgery. You will work to continuously improve patient care and operational efficiency, as well as patient and employee satisfaction.

    The Director is responsible for the daily management of center personnel and for developing a high-performance and engaged team, with the appropriate skills and competencies to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the center.

    The Director is accountable for the effective delivery of skilled, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include coordination of all aspects of patient care; troubleshooting issues; ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards; managing quality assurance/quality improvement/change management initiatives; ensuring that all safety and risk management requirements are met; supervision of a professional staff of around 35 professionals, including nurses, technicians, and administrators; budgeting, billing, and accounting; policy management; and leadership in helping to align and implement the vision of the center with that of Hospital for Special Surgery.

    The Director will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the entire medical staff at the center and be a role model and effective liaison for the ASC with the hospitals medical and executive leadership. This role will work closely with the VP of Perioperative Services for HSS.

    The position has a matrixed reporting relationship to both the ASC Board and the VP, of Perioperative Services.

    Experience

    • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; standards, protocols, and procedures governing the provision of nursing and ambulatory care.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, fiscal, and personnel management essential to the success of a large department, unit, or center.
    • Knowledge of practices and current trends in health care and ambulatory/perioperative services.
    • A professional with significant management experience (5-plus years) in hospitals is required. Minimum of five years of ambulatory surgery/perioperative experience is required. General experience in academic, multi-specialty institutions, with some knowledge of orthopedics, is highly desirable.
    • Experience interfacing with medical and executive leadership in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting is required. Must be adept at working through issues with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR/hospital staff.
    • Knowledge and expertise in all areas of ambulatory-surgery operations (Pre-Op, PACU, OR, and administration) is required.
    • Experience implementing and managing the business plans for a large clinical group, department or center.
    • Knowledge of change management, lean process, and quality-improvement principles; ability to initiate and implement change conducive to the improvement of the quality and safety of patient-care delivery
    • Knowledge of Magnet culture and standards
    • Experience resolving issues through innovative problem solving and solution development. Possesses a continuous-improvement mind-set.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors in Nursing required, Masters required or currently enrolled
    • Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License and NJ RN License and CPR certification are required.
    • Specialty certifications required (CNOR, ANCC, and CASC)
    • 7+ years of management experience preferred (5+ years required)

    Pay Range - Minimum:
    USD $160,000.00/Yr.

    Pay Range - Maximum:
    USD $180,000.00/Yr.
