    Position:
    Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse


    Qualifications:

    Education:

    Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited institution.


    Experience:
    Minimum of one year in a Labor and Delivery department within the last three years.

    Certifications:
    BCLS/BLS, ACLS/ALS, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program; must be obtained through AHA or ARC.

    Licensure:
    Current, unrestricted RN license.


    Core Duties:
    Provide specialized obstetric care to normal and high-risk patients.
    Manage complex medications and interventions like oxygen administration, fluid bolus, amnioinfusion, and assisting with epidurals and cesarean sections.
    Perform in circulator role for cesarean and cesarean-hysterectomy.
    Conduct physical exams, health histories, and offer health promotions, counseling, and education.
    Administer medications and perform personalized interventions.
    Coordinate patient care across various stages from antepartum to postpartum including triage, intrapartum, and neonatal care.
    Ensure compliance with established medical policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    Recognize and respond quickly to emergency situations.

    Requirements:
    Must pass an L&D competency assessment upon hiring.
    Continuous education in nursing to stay updated on skills required in the specialty.

    Staffing and Scheduling:


    80 hours per two-week period, rotating 12-hour shifts plus one additional 8-hour shift bi-weekly, covering all days and including nights, weekends, and holidays.


    Additional Responsibilities:
    Conduct research to support improved practice and patient outcomes.
    Make triage decisions based on assessment and manage all ambulatory patients seen in Labor and Delivery.
    Utilize physician-driven protocols, monitor patient lab data, and ensure procedure authorizations.
    Manage patient records and engage in quality improvement activities.

    This position demands a highly skilled nurse who can manage the complex needs of both mother and child during labor and delivery, ensuring safety and promoting health within a dynamic hospital environment.
