- Oversee daily operations of the CT department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Supervise and perform all CT procedures to the highest quality standards.
- Provide feedback to staff on individual image quality.
- Compile and analyze statistical and QA data as needed.
- Maintain exam protocols to ensure quality with minimal exposure levels.
- Coordinate with other departments to address patient and staff-related issues.
- Make recommendations on the purchase, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Conduct orientation and training for new staff members.
- Interview and recommend the hiring of new staff members.
- Perform annual performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Perform diagnostic and quality control of CT procedures.
- Ensure proper physician orders and reasons for exams are in place.
- Scan patients using approved department standards and protocols.
- Provide preliminary data and images to appropriate physicians.
- Maintain records and complete necessary paperwork.
- Utilize EPIC and PACS programs for examinations and accurate billing using appropriate ICD-10 codes.
- Prepare and administer contrast media (oral and intravenous) following proper protocols.
- Review patient history to assess renal function risk or allergies.
- Perform venipuncture and assist with the administration of contrast media as required.
- Ensure compliance with DEP State of Maryland, and JCAHO regulations.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines as recommended by the National Council on Radiation Protection and the Code of Maryland Regulation (ALARA).
- Document and question all female patients of childbearing age about potential pregnancy prior to exams.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to develop practices limiting radiation exposure.
- Monitor and supervise CT studies to ensure high-quality imaging and patient care.
- Troubleshoot issues with radiologists and collaborate with vendors and the biomedical department to improve image quality and ensure safe equipment operation.
- Maintain a safe testing environment and promptly report equipment issues for preventative maintenance.
- Organize staff and daily work schedules, prioritizing studies for efficient workflow.
- Communicate with nursing units and physician offices to schedule and accommodate add-on patients.
- Prepare necessary paperwork and review previous study results for each patient.
- Ensure efficient patient flow through effective communication with transporters and nursing staff.
- Actively participate in the Stroke Committee and Door to Needle Committee.
- Provide leadership and supervision to the CT team.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new employees, ensuring all technical staff complete and demonstrate competencies.
- Facilitate monthly meetings and effectively communicate operational and clinical changes.
- Conduct routine rounding with staff to ensure ongoing support and guidance.
- Collaborate with the Emergency Department and inpatient floors to ensure timely patient care and efficient turnaround times (TAT).
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology.
- Registered CT technologist with the ARRT.
- Licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance to practice as a CT Technologist in Maryland.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CT technologist.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related field.
- Three years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
- Day shift, Monday to Friday.
