• \tCollects and analyzes data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to fabricate structural and misc steel.

General Job Description

• \tTravels to job sites to determine materials needed and labor required.
• \tAnalyzes specifications and technical documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• \tPrepares estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
• \tConfers with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on cost estimates.
• \tPrepares cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the

duration of the project.

• \tAssesses cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the

project develops.

• \tSets up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
• \tReviews material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase

components.

• \tMaintains a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• \tEvaluates a product's cost-effectiveness or profitability.
• \tRecommends ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable.

Job Qualifications

Either Experience or Education is required

\tEducation:
Bachelor's degree

\tExperience:
At least 4 years' experience as a steel estimator
