    Job Description
    Job SummaryUltrasound technologist performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures in the use ofultrasound for the diagnosis of disease or pathology.

    Must use various ultrasound probes dependent on the typeof anatomy being examined. Must become proficient in recognizing cross-sectional anatomy and understandingof related technology. May also perform other related patient care duties.

    Essential FunctionsPrepares equipment and scanning area for patient procedures. May transport or escort patients toand from ultrasound area. May perform clerical and technical related duties as it pertains toretrieving previous exams.
    Positions the transducer probe per protocols of anatomy. Manipulates equipment controls to obtainmaximum resolution of ultrasound frequency per protocols and during procedures. Obtains scan invarious required angles and positions. Vascular Imaging experience is also preferred.
    Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination. Checks equipment, accessories,and supplies. Keeps areas stocked at all times and room clean. Technologist cleans equipment perdepartmental policy and after each patient use.
    Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department. Maintains ethicalrelationships. May be requested to assist in the development of techniques for procedures. Mayassist in the use of a variety of equipment and procedures not routinely employed. Assist others inthe department, requests assistance when necessary and demonstrates a team approach to patientcare. Assist in developing the skills of students, trainees, or residents. This position requiresrotational holidays, along with weekday call, and weekend call/staffed shift through all staff on arotational basis.

    Will be available for rotating emergency call, while also possibly scheduled to cover at otherfacilities within the Mercy Health Toledo Rural Market.

    Adheres to work schedule, and schedulesPTO time off in accordance to departmental policy. Attends departmental staff meetings and in-servicesas required. Adheres to all established HR policies.

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONSRequired:

    Current BLS certification, US certification,Preferred: Certified in ultrasonic technology by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, RVTcertification
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Years and Type of Experience: At least one full year of full time experience in clinical ultrasoundtechnology including didactic experience equivalent to the curriculum recommended by the American Society ofRadiologic Technology or satisfactory completion of another ultrasound training program.


    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
    Gathers, organizes, verifies, and analyzes data in the completionof multi-step procedures. Produces final output within established standards. Operates complicated equipment.
